My daughter still didn't sleep any better after starting solids (she started a day or two before she turned 6 months old) After around 3 1/2 weeks though, she started sleeping a little better. Last night was the first time she's ever slept through the night. So, it may take more time...some babies just aren't ready to sleep through the night at such a young age.

I think it's a myth. I think it exists because the time that people used to start solids (3 months!) coincidentally coincides with the time when a lot newborns start to sleep longer of their own accord.

Now that most people wait until much longer to start solids, it is pretty obvious that baby sleep starts to consolidate into longer chunks long before you start solids.

Yes, people told me the same thing, that starting solids will help, but it made it even worse. I have the same problem and do not know the solution. I guess you could try CIO (cry it out) but it doesn't work for me. My baby is 8.5 months and still waking up every 2-3 hours.

Nope. As much as the myth perpetuates that any sort of solids will help a baby sleep more, It is not true for many children. It will work for some kids and it will not work for others. It never helped my oldest, he needed a routine to sleep more. It did help my next boy. Mu youngest has not started yet, but I hope she stays sleeping through the night as she does now when we start solids. Good luck.

did your doctor tell you to put the baby on vegetables ? I was told by my baby's doctor vegetables cause gas in young children and gas can be very painful to a 5 month old, he said not to give my baby vegetables until he was 7 or 8 months old. because being a little older his digestive system was stronger and could digest the vegetables better.ask you doctor about changing his formula it sounds like he isn't getting enough nutrition and that is why he is always hungry.
