My 1 yr old sleeps at night from 10 pm- 10am. With one long or two short naps during the day. I work and my husband gets to stay at home, so from the beginning I made it a point to give him a later bedtime so I could have some baby time when I get home.

Ryan used to wake before 7 every morning. This past week he hasn't been waking until 9-10 AM!!! He has been waking around 5-6 when he hears daddy up for work but he goes right back to sleep after a bottle!

Please see my article " When Will My Baby Soothe Himself to Sleep?" at .

In my counseling practice, I have reminded nursing mothers that caffeine in breast milk is often the problem. If you're nursing, reduce or eliminate caffeine (coffee, tea or chocolate) from your diet - that can help a lot. Also, remember that babies seldom do sleep through the night. Many of our cultural expectations about babies' legitimate needs are quite unrealistic.

Enjoy these early months - they will go by much faster than you think!

My 17 month old is usually up by 6:30AM, the latest probably 8:30AM just depends on how well or not so well her night was. Her bedtime averages from 7:30-9:30PM. She can easily go to bed on her own when the room is dark and I am laying right beside her. If I were to get up and leave, she would get up and find me and end up in my arms. She did that last night. My Husband opened up his arms for her but she slap his hands away LOL She only wanted mommy. :)
It's been her routine for so long already. We usually have dinner after 6PM, then she will get a nice warm bath, watch a bit of Sesame Street and soon she'll be snoring like her father does. :D

I have a 2 month old as well and 2 months old is too young to expect your baby to sleep through the night. I got this advice from my pediatrician: do nothing for the first 3 months, they're too young. At around 4 mos. you can begin sleep training (cry it out) if you want but it's a personal decision. And at that age, through the night will equal a 5-7 hour stretch (some people are very lucky if their child sleeps longer), so don't expect too much too soon.

I give my soon a really good feeding before bed and I swaddle him tight and I've noticed that he sleeps an hour longer when I do this!

My daughter is now almost 15 months old and she still does not sleep through the night. Although somethings that make her sleep for longer periods of time are....Johnson's Lavender baby wash and lotion. I also spray her room with lavender spray. I started putting rice cereal in her bottles when she was about 3 months old. The doctors say not to, but I have been told by so many mothers it was fine. My daughter did just fine and it helped her sleep. Also try playing lullabys in her room, or nature sounds. Hope I was a help.

Honestly, I think maybe there's nothing much you can do. I remember reading in somewhere this is their circadian rhythm. When I thought about it I remembered getting up myself at the age of four at 5 or 5:30AM and watching Bonzo the Clown while my parents slept.
My 14 month old gets up at 5 or 5:30AM every morning. I can easily get her to stay up later, but she still wakes up at that time, so getting him to stay up later won't necessarily solve your problem. Honestly, it's easier said than done (I know I'm trying to do it!) but I think the best thing is just to work around their natural schedule and go to bed earlier ourselves.

Also I have blackout curtains (helps for naps) but it makes no difference. She wakes up even on dark, cloudy mornings at the same time.

It is a good idea to let him sleep in the crib as much as possible. If he doesn't fuss too much when you move him, please do. But if he only has maybe half an hour of his nap left, or he will wake up when moved let him sleep, but no more than an hour or so. The posture forced on him even by the best carseats may not be healthy for extended periods of time.

I brought my son home when he was 4 days old. I had him by the side of my bed for a few nights just to get used to him. I put him in his own bed at about 1-1/2 weeks old. He started sleeping about 4 hours at a time. By 2-1/2 weeks he was sleeping through the night. I would give him a warm bath at about 8:30, rub him down with Johnson's and Johnson's bedtime body lotion, nurse him really well, and put him down at about 9:30-10pm, and he would sleep till 7 am the next morning.
